Property Description
Block Title Sets the Title of the block to identify the content on the front end - there is no character limit
Title Link URL Sets the URL you will be taken to if the Block Title is clicked on
Open in New Window Sets the link URL to open in a new browser window
Block Title
Block title emhpasis This sets the font size of the Block Title.
Block title background color This sets the background color for the block title, which overrides any default them heading background color.
Block title text color This sets the block title text color. This overrides any default theme heading text color.
Block title note This adds an informational note below the block title.
General
Links position Sets the location of the block links, which are defined under the Links tab
Block Content Width This will define the width of the blocks content based on the following settings:
  • Fill the containing region (default)
  • Fill the containing region up to the max width of the site container.
Block Bottom Margin This will set the bottom margin of the block based on the following settings:
  • Standard (default)
  • None
Content Discovery Order This property specifies whether the asset order from this block will be passed along and used to provide assets for content discovery features. Options are - Use Section Order or Pass This Blocks Order.
Layout
Block Background Color This sets the colored box around the block and all of its content.
Card Background Color This sets the colored box around the asset card.
Text color This property will change the asset card's text colors. It is typically used to create contrast with the background color box.
Image
Show image This property will show or hide the asset's preview image.
Image size This property sets the size of the image.
Aspect ratio This property sets the aspect ratio of the asset's preview image. If this property is set to "inherit", the setting will inherit from the URL.
Content
Display This property allows a lead paragraph to display on the first asset if set to "Top story".
Headline size This property sets the size of the asset's headline.
Lead truncate This property will truncate the lead paragraph to the number of characters defined.
Read more link This property will either show or hide a "Read more" link at the end of the lead paragraph. The lead paragraph must be set to "true" for this to show.
Read more link text This property changes the text displayed in the Read More Link property. For example, 'Latest Update,' 'Full Details,' etc.
Show section This property will either show or hide the asset's primary section tag above the headline.
Show flags This property will either show or hide the asset's flags above the headline.
Show byline This property will either show or hide the asset's byline.
Show author This property will either show or hide the author information.
Show comment count This property will either show or hide the asset's BLOX comment count.
Show sharing buttons This property will either show or hide sharing buttons.
Share button type Allows you to switch between icon, square, and round social media buttons.
Show asset type icons This property toggles the display of asset type icons. If this property is set to "inherit", the setting will inherit from the URL.
CSS Class
CSS Class Allows you to use a CSS Class to style the block and/or show/hide the block based on device sizes - ie: hidden-lg (hides on desktop) visible-sm (visible on smart phone)
Template
Template Information A description of the block template
Edit/Change Template Allows you to edit or change the block template
Display mode This property allows you to choose between a Grid and a Slideshow display.
Columns Depending on the block type, the number of columns in which to arrange additional Assets will be determined. Assets, such as Videos, Ads, etc. will adapt to fit the columns, and collapse to a single column on small screens. In some blocks, this can be set from one to four columns. In blocks for the iQ program have an option of six.
Equal height Flex the cards in each row to a matching height. Options are True or False.
Compact mode This property makes the card more compact on small screens. When this property is set to true the Image display will default to the medium size on small screens.
Show date This property will show or hide the asset's start date or updated time.
Map
Show map This property will either show or hide a map of assets with valid location data. Assets will appear as a pin on the map marking their location. When users click on the pin, it will load a dialogue box that displays a card of the asset.
Image This property allows you to add an image.
Headline size This property sets the size of the asset's headline.
Show lead This property will either show or hide the asset's lead paragraph.
Audience Targeting
Show To Audience (comma separated list) Show this block to users in the provided audience list. This feature requires participation in our TownNews iQ and our TownNews.com Content Exchange programs and DMP must be enabled. Audience lists are found in the Developer Console Logs. Hide From Audience (comma separated list) Hide this block to users in the provided audience list. This feature requires participation in our TownNews iQ and our TownNews Content Exchange programs. Audience lists are found in the Developer Console Logs. For more information, contact your Regional Sales Representative.
Zones
Show time-to-read estimate This property displays an estimated time to read a story based on word count. Options are:

  • Disabled (Default)
  • Enabled
  • Enabled on Long-form Articles only
Position This property provides control on where you want to position an Image in relationship to the Headline and the Lead for that image. Options:
  • Top - Displays the image above the headline.
  • Middle - Displays the image below the headline and above the lead.
  • Bottom - Displays the image below the lead.
