IPTC stands for the International Press Telecommunication Council, which is a group that creates industry standards for photo metadata.
IPTC information that will be imported is:
- Headline - goes into the Title field
- Photographer - goes into the Byline field
- Caption - will go into the Caption field
- Keywords - will go into the Keywords field
The IPTC maintains a list of software which claims to be compatible with IPTC Photo Metadata standards.
Here is an example of how an image with IPTC content appears in Adobe Photoshop.
In Adobe Photoshop, select File - Open to open your image. Then go to the File dropdown menu and select File Info.
The information fields are displayed on the Description and IPTC Content pages.
This Image asset screen shows the fields carried over with the image.
