The Release Notes for 5.24.x is available here

5.23.04-05-1 Released 2017.12.29

Minor Logging Fix) When using tunnel:true in your servers.jsx file, not all of the actual storage paths were logged properly. This has been corrected. This doesn't affect users, but aids in troubleshooting for sites using BLOX Total CMS with appliances. JIRA INDESIGN-1717

Internal Changes) The Release Selected Asset function doesn't more exact logging when releasing an assignment. One site is still complaining (and the logs confirm) that it is slow at their site. The extra logging will help to pinpoint the issue. JIRA INDESIGN-1920

Major Bug Fix) When users tried to add a locked child asset to an Adobe InCopy assignment several bad things would happen: 1) Adobe InDesign would violate the lock and write back the version on the page which might cause edits by whoever owned the lock to be lost. 2) A different part of the client would indicate that it wasn't part of the assignment and would not tag the asset appropriately. 3) The asset would be considered out of Date by Adobe InCopy. It would then want to reflow when it really shouldn't have been part of the assignment at all. | To combat these issues, children that are locked by another user will no longer be allowed to be added to an assignment. Thus, the children will behave just like standalone assets. Users will get warned when they attempt to create an assignment appropriately. This will have the effect of more child image captions will not be edited by Adobe InCopy. But it also means that when they are edited, the edits will stick and not be lost. Thus, this change is a major improvement. JIRA INDESIGN-1921

Important InCopy Bug Fix) If you opened and Adobe InCopy assignment, but didn't check it out (because it was in out of date) and then closed the Adobe InCopy assignment, it would write back the out of date content and thus edits would have been lost. This has been corrected. You can now safely close a non-checked out asset without fear of writing its content back to the asset in the browser or Adobe InDesign. JIRA INDESIGN-1991

Minor Bug Fix) If for some reason there wasn't a valid asset to check in when closing an Adobe InCopy document, the closing option would fail (logically), but it wouldn't reopen the asset manager if the user's preferences requested it (optional). JIRA INDESIGN-1991

Behavior Change) The 'No Standalone Heads' option no longer affects Table assets. Table assets will always get their titles sent to the rulesets. If they are undesired, they can be removed using rulesets or simply be deleted from the Adobe InDesign page. JIRA INDESIGN-2004

Bug Fix) A version of the client that no site received had an Adobe InDesign bug that prevented some assignments from being created. The result was that the assignment process hung while leaving a dialog on the screen. This has been thoroughly tested and the issue no longer happens. JIRA INDESIGN-2012

Bug Fix) A recent update broke the ability to open article assets in Adobe InCopy unless they had an assignment already. The issue has been fixed and tested to verify that the desired behavior is still available. JIRA INDESIGN-2015

5.23.03-1 Released 2017.12.15

Bug Fix) Certain Related Content items on certain domains had internal ids set to null. The Asset Cleanup routine in the BLOX Total CMS client for Adobe InDesign and Adobe InCopy errored when encountering these null items. That has been corrected and they are now skipped. JIRA INDESIGN-2005

5.23.02-1 Released 2017.12.14

Minor Change) Page Color Labels have been disabled until a later time. Users won't notice any difference. JIRA INDESIGN-1970

Logging Change) To aid in troubleshooting when sites move children's frames to the parent assets, we now log the change of file reference. Previously, not even the menu items being used were logged. Users will see no change in the function's behaviors. Note: In addition to the command at BLOX Total CMS > File References, the commands such as BLOX Total CMS > Add Selected To > will also do this logging. Some of those functions even warn users when they are about to destroy the assets. JIRA INDESIGN-1972

Performance Boost) While investigating a complaint of poor performance with evergreen assets, we determined that we were only purging some of the parents and children that are returned with the SaveAsset web-service. This has been changed and now both unwanted parental links are cleared recursively. JIRA INDESIGN-2000

Performance Improvement) In a future appliance release the web-service endpoints for /GetAsset/ and /SaveAsset/ will support a request for not sending back parent assets. Those parent assets have substantially slowed down sites that use evergreen assets that get used over and over on a daily or weekly basis. The BLOX Total CMS client for Adobe InDesign will now request to skip the parents and as soon as that option is available on the appliance, they will stop being returned. The appliance release 2.19.0 is expected to support this. JIRA INDESIGN-2002

5.23.01-1 Released 2017.12.08

UI Improvement) Both the Asset Manager and the Select Child Assets to Place dialog now display ampersands as a simple & symbol rather than the HTML encoded &. JIRA INDESIGN-404

Improvement) The display of asset Priority has been added to the Select Child Assets to Place dialog. The display has been limited to a maximum priority of 9999. A priority of 0 is not displayed. The Priority column is marked with an !(exclamation mark). JIRA INDESIGN-1090

Improvement) The Asset Manager's display of asset Priority in the search results has been changed so that the maximum priority that can be displayed is now 9999. No other changes were made to the display. JIRA INDESIGN-1090

Log Change) The Release Selected Asset now logs extensively more information in an attempt to diagnose why it is slow at one particular site. JIRA INDESIGN-1920

Change for PPI > Saxo > XML) Create Edition from Edition file will now warn users of the ppisaxoxml custom ad format when the database dump doesn't contain any relevant pages. The prior procedure resulted in it attempting to build an incorrect InDesign document. JIRA INDESIGN-1932

Improvement) The dialog that tells the Adobe InDesign and Adobe InCopy users that an asset is in use will now include the asset type and child / parent status if these items are known. This is to assist the Adobe InCopy users who get these messages about children in the assignment but the prior version of the dialog didn't make that clear. JIRA INDESIGN-1982

Change) The Select Child Assets to Place dialog now shows the lock icon if the child asset is already in use. In addition, it automatically unchecks any in use children so that they don't automatically flow on the page. There is a preference for the deselect behavior at BLOX Total CMS > Options > Limit Placement of Locked Children. When that preference is selected, child assets that are locked will automatically be unchecked in the Select Child Assets to Place dialog. A user can double-click in that dialog to on the locked asset to check and subsequently place it, however, since it is locked, it won't be editable. JIRA INDESIGN-1983

Rare, but Important Bug Fix) If a user checks out a child asset in the browser interface and leaves it locked, Adobe InCopy will override the lock if the same user attempts to open its parent's assignment. This has been fixed and the locks are now preserved. JIRA INDESIGN-1984

UI Bug Fix) The dialog displayed when opening an Out of Date assignment in Adobe InCopy showed an insignificant Default Frame Revision and didn't show the relevant content hashes. This has been changed and the dialog now has the Content Hashes and drops the Default Frame Revision. JIRA INDESIGN-1985

Minor Log Change) When preparing or updating rulesets, the log files listed undefined for a timestamp. This has been corrected. JIRA INDESIGN-1986

Bug Fix) There was a bug in the dialog that allows the Adobe InDesign user to select which child assets to place. In certain edge cases, a dialog was trying to be drawn with no available child assets and an error occurred which likely would have stopped the translation. Both cases have been corrected. We do not know that the problem ever happened at a client site. JIRA INDESIGN-1987

UI Enhancement) The preview of child assets has been increased to 169% of its former size in the Select Child Assets to Place dialog. In BLOX Total CMS installs without appliances, the previews will now fill this new size. Appliance-based previews are currently still 100 x 100 pixels and will be centered in this larger space. JIRA INDESIGN-1990

Minor Log Change) When Adobe InCopy presents the out of date dialog, it didn't use to log the same information. It now does and this will make it easier for TownNews to troubleshoot issues. JIRA INDESIGN-1993

UI Change) Adobe InCopy now has access to BLOX Total CMS > Asset Details... Asset Details shows the frames of the asset as well as revision information. The dialog will be expanding to include other options in the future. JIRA INDESIGN-1986
